Thinning hair can affect your self confidence and ultimately the way that you approach life.  This is why so many people are desperate to stop thinning hair. It is not an uncommon problem, in fact most men and women will experience some hair loss over their life time.  The main problem is when it occurs.  If you are a young man and you start to experience thinning hair, you will become very concerned about it as it really does affect your appearance.  If you are a women at any age this problem will definately affect you.

The main underlying cause of hair loss is genetics.  This means that some people have more of a pre-disposition for hair loss.  There are other causes as well and these can include: unhealthy diet, stress, menopause, pregnancy and excessive chemical hair procedures.  Most programs to stop thinning hair concentrate on the result of genetics which causes male and female pattern hair loss.  Some individuals are born with hair follicles that are more sensitive to the causes of thinning hair.  In people that have this genetic pre-disposition, the hair follicles are very sensitive to a hormone, or androgen called DHT. The male hormone testosterone is cobverted to DHT (dihydrotestosterone), by enzymes and the final result of this process is hair loss.  DHT acts on the hair follicles until they shrink and the hair falls out.

There are a large number of ways to stop thinning hair including hair loss prevention programs and regrowth treatments.  Essentially, a prevention program works by continually removing the DHT from the scalp.  In addition to this, dietary supplements can be taken to assure that proper nutrition is maintained.  Scalp manipulations also, are performed to make sure that there is a healthy blood flow to the scalp.

In any of these situations, the sooner that the problem is recognized, the better the chances are of keeping the remaining and even possibly regrowing some of the lost hair.  Why take a chance with your self esteem by doing nothing when you can stop thinning hair?
